Jesus inquired of the lame man at the pool of Bethesda ... "Do you want to be made well?"

Seems like somewhat of an odd question for Jesus to ask, but the fact is that we all have an individual choice as to whether we want to be made well. Victory over the lameness in our lives can only come as a result of two events taking place: 1) we must admit our hurt, and 2) we must choose healing over that hurt.

The Bible doesn't say that Jesus touched the lame man, nor did Jesus tell him that he was healed. Jesus simply said ... "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk!" The story of this lame man mirrors the situations in our lives that seem to have us paralyzed. In those times, the Word of God is instructing us to rise up out of the comfort of those places that cause us to be invalid, yet still provide us a place of security merely because they have become familiar to us.
